I honestly don't know what happened but my black Mercedes has developed these horrible etched-in water spots all over the bonnet and roof that just will not come off no matter what I try. I've washed it carefully, used a clay bar, even tried some vinegar solution I found on YouTube that was supposed to dissolve mineral deposits, but nothing seems to budge them and in direct sunlight it looks absolutely terrible, like the paint is permanently damaged or something. I'm really hoping it's just the clear coat that's stained and not that the spots have eaten all the way through, because I've seen some cars here where the water marks are so bad you can feel them with your fingernail and at that point I think you're looking at a respray. I asked at a couple of detailing places and they quoted me anywhere from 500 to 1500 dirhams for a paint correction, but honestly I don't know who to trust because some of them just want to slap a quick wax on and call it a day without actually fixing the underlying issue. A friend who's really particular about his cars suggested I look into getting an Accomplished Car Polish By 800Sayara Sharjah because they apparently use professional-grade compounds and rotary polishers that actually cut through the damaged clear coat instead of just filling it in temporarily. I'm a bit nervous about letting anyone machine polish my car though because I've heard horror stories about inexperienced detailers burning through the paint or leaving holograms everywhere. Has anyone here successfully removed really stubborn water spots and what was the process like? I just want my car to look decent again without spending a fortune on a full respray.
