A close associate of Nollywood actress Ijeoma Richards has recounted the terrifying incident that led to the explosion of the actress’ vehicle somewhere in Lagos, describing it as a miraculous escape from death.
According to the source, the actress, who is also the President of the Nollywood Creative Minds Forum (NCMF), had spent most of the afternoon moving around in the vehicle before parking for an official meeting.
The close friend explained that the tragic incident could easily have claimed lives if the explosion had occurred while she was still inside the car.
“She was in the car most of the afternoon. It could have happened while she was still inside the vehicle. She parked and went in for a meeting.
The burning videos and pictures making rounds were reportedly captured by security personnel around the area,” the source disclosed. The associate further narrated that while the meeting was ongoing, people around heard a loud explosion and noticed the arrival of a fire truck, without initially realising that the affected vehicle belonged to the actress.
“When the meeting ended and everyone came outside, they discovered that the fire service officials were there because of her car.
They heard the explosion earlier, but nobody knew immediately that it was her vehicle that exploded,” the source added. The shocking development has continued to generate reactions within the entertainment industry, as colleagues, fans and associates have expressed gratitude to God for sparing her life.
At the time of filing this report, efforts to reach Ijeoma Richards proved unsuccessful. Sources close to the actress disclosed that she is currently unavailable to speak on the incident due to the emotional trauma caused by the experience. Though the vehicle was completely damaged by the fire, many have described her survival as nothing short of divine intervention.
