Striker Wayne Rooney said Everton have "backpedalled to fundamentals" after they dug out from a deficit to beat Swansea City 3-1 and proceed with their restoration under Sam Allardyce.
The Toffees have won four of their previous five games - drawing the other - to move into ninth in the Premier League.
Rooney fixed Everton's triumph from the penalty spot after Martin Olsson was decreed to have fouled Jonjoe Kenny.
It was the previous England chief's second spot-kick of the night - he had prior had one spared by Lukasz Fabianski, however Dominic Calvert-Lewin turned home the bounce back.
That brought the Toffees level after Leroy Fer had lost his marker at a corner to open the scoring for Swansea.
Gylfi Sigurdsson's choice long-go strike against his previous club put Everton ahead after the break, before Rooney's penalty finished the scoring.
"I think the director has got us simple," said Rooney. "On the off chance that we went a goal down, we had an inclination we wouldn't get back in the game prior in the season. We are substantially stronger.
